ROBERTSVILLE, Mo. (KMOX) – A Wednesday night raid on a suspected area-wide car theft ring ended with two suspects shot and an officer injured.
According to Missouri Highway Patrol Sgt. Al Nothum , when St. Louis, Franklin and Jefferson County officers moved in on a large detached garage outside a home in the 600 block of Spring in Robertsville, three suspects in a Ford F-350 drove out through the garage door, “and struck a truck on the other side of the garage door. That truck was not moving so he rammed that a few times. Eventually got around it, striking other vehicles including patrol cars and police cars. Officers were in his route of traffic and feared for their safety, and fired.”
Nothum says the driver and front seat passenger suffered critical bullet wounds. The back seat passenger was not hit.
An officer was hit by the first truck hit by the F-350. There’s no word on his or her condition.
Investigators say the suspects’ car-theft ring operated throughout the area over recent months.
