FRANKLIN, COUNTY, Mo. (KMOX) - The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will conduct a public hearing on April 8 regarding the draft permit for a utility waste landfill in Franklin County. The permit would allow Ameren Missouri to construct their Labadie Utility Waste Landfill in the area.

The 813-acre site proposed for the landfill is at 226 Labadie Power Plant Road, about 2.5 miles northeast of the town of Labadie and immediately southeast of the Missouri River in northeast Franklin County. The landfill disposal area is approximately 166.5 acres, divided into four cells. The proposed facility would dispose of by-products of coal combustion such as fly ash, bottom ash, boiler slag and flue gas desulfurization wastes.

The hearing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. in the lower level of the Knights of Columbus Hall at 1121 Columbus Lane in Washington, Mo.
